Gossip & Gists: Chris Brown, Soulja Boy Feud On Social Media Over Karrueche Tran

The new year is off to a dissonant start for Chris Brown and Soulja Boy. The hip-hop stars engaged in a social media war of words after Soulja Boy allegedly liked an Instagram photo of Brown's ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

This apparently enraged Brown, who then called the "Crank That" rapper to confront him and challenge him to a fight, according to Soulja Boy. "Chris Brown just called me and said he wanna fight me because I liked @karrueche picture on Instagram this n**** a b****," Soulja Boy tweeted Monday evening.

Brown then fired back Tuesday morning with multiple seething Instagram posts, claiming in one that he never actually called Soulja Boy like the rapper claimed.

"ROYALTY (Brown's daughter) IS 2 AND HAS 5 times more money than SOULJA boy already," Brown added. "I'd be mad too."

Brown — who broke up with Tran roughly two years ago — also threatened to "whoop" Soulja Boy in a nearly minute-long Instagram video, going on record in the clip to ask professional boxer Adrien Broner to set up a ring for their throwdown. Soulja Boy added to the dispute Tuesday morning as well, referencing Brown's 2009 abuse of pop star Rihanna and accusing him of drug use in a series of other tweets.

Tran — a 28-year-old actress and model — attempted to diffuse the tension by commenting on one of Brown's posts, contending that the situation was unwarranted.

"First off this drama between both of these two is so ridiculous it makes no sense. We just brought in a new year and what we doing??" she wrote, adding, "This isn't cool or funny..it's draining..not just for me..but for everyone."

But Brown, 27, didn't take too kindly to her response and fired off a heated salvo in her direction as well.

"NOONE ASKED FOR THIS OPINION!!!" he began. "IT AINT OVER YOU!! GIRL KEEP THE FAME YOU GOT AND STAY CLASSY!"

In addition to publishing his own angry tweets, Soulja Boy retweeted a wave of comments and articles about the feud on his Twitter page. Brown, meanwhile, shared another video of himself in bed, telling Soulja Boy he was "waiting" for him to put out a video.

Tuesday evening, Brown returned to Instagram with more videos, including a profanity-laced message about people "trying to act like they...tough." He also posted Soulja Boy's phone number in a screenshot of an alleged text from the rapper.
