Gossip & Gists: Crisis In Davido’s HKN Gang - B Red, Sinarambo Might Leave Soon

Family isn’t everything after all…

E! 365 has gathered, from multiple sources, that there is major crisis in the HKN Gang; the popular record label that attained overwhelming fame and success in 2012 may have been bitten by the recent ‘break up’ bug and might lose two of it’s popular acts B Red and Sinarambo.

After working together as a music crew for close to a decade, there are very strong indications that popstar Davido ‘Davido‘ Adeleke is parting ways with his pop singing cousins (his father’s elder brother’s sons) and label mates, Bayo ‘B Red‘ Adeleke and Sina ‘Sinarambo‘ Adeleke.

E! 365 sources say tension has been building among the cousins for a while ‘but B Red and Sina have been playing it cool’. Apparently, the lesser known cousins now want out.
Sources tell us a big fight  allegedly ensued between Davido and cousins B Red and Sinarambo some weeks back in Atlanta – The cousins had accused Davido of not doing much for their careers as much as he should after they chose him as the label’s front line act. They also accused him of not giving them a chance to fully promote their new singles only to overshadow them at any given chance.

Flashback

Some years ago before Davido, B Red and Sinarambo relocated to Nigeria to fully pursue their music careers, the trio had been working in Altanta, US as a music crew called B International. Sinarambo was the frontline artiste with Davido only handling music production. B Red, a very talented drummer assisted with verses.

Then Davido began pursing a singing career seriously, broke out as a solo artiste and decided to return to Nigeria in 2010 to fully launch a music career. Starting off HKN Gang with his elder half-brother Adewale Adeleke aka Chairman HKN, they added (as only expected) B Red and Sinarambo to the team and approached M.I‘s manager Abuchi Ugwu to manage him.

Abuchi however turned down the offer (he is credited to mixing and mastering Davido’s monster hit song ‘Dami duro‘), Davido met up with a very enthusiastic Asa Asika (Asa in December 2012 parted ways with HKN) and well, the rest is history. The team planned to push Davido first, then Sinarambo and finally B Red.

Back To The Present

As we all know Davido’s music career skyrocketed with hit songs and a debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo‘. He was immediately placed as an A-list artiste in Nigeria, topping charts, performing in different continents, winning awards, and bagging multi-million Naira endorsement deals.

Now that Davido has blown, it was Sinarambo and B red’s turn, but things didn’t seem to follow again‘, a source tells E! 365. ‘Every time Sina or B Red released a song or video, Davido would release his own music and somehow it overshadowed theirs’.

October 15, 2012 - Sinarambo releases his much anticipated first single-video ‘Ijo sina‘ feat Davido.
October 17, 2012 - Davido releases ‘Gbon gbon‘ off his ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ album.
February 8, 2013 - B Red releases first single ’Insane girl’ feat Davido.
February 25, 2013 - Davido releases controversial single ‘Gobe’.

Sources say the fight in Atlanta got physical after B Red and Sinarambo aggressively questioned Davido over the matter. ‘The fight damaged property in their ATL home, it started in the car and continued in the house‘.

Davido then traveled to Houston during the All star weekend to perform alongside Nas. He later traveled back to Nigeria and headed straight to Ghana for a performance.

Sources say, Sina and B Red were stuck in Atlanta (B Red has since returned while Sina is still in Atlanta). Davido’s father, we learn is now aware of the fight and has extricated the cousins. B Red we are told has also moved out of Davido’s house.

The ‘Insane girl’ singer who is Davido’s official hype man was missing at Davido’s side at two recent campus performances in the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Ibadan (UI). He also didn’t attend Davido’s mum’s remembrance ceremony.

But Davido’s new manager Kamal (one of the guys who Dr SID says was present when he had that leaked conversation with Davido) says we shouldn’t fret. ‘There’s no problem in HKN, Sina is working with some people in ATL at the moment and B Red is cool with Davido’, Kamal told our reporter in a telephone conversation.

In related news, it is being reported that Davido has signed a upcoming pop singers Ghanaian act Deekay and Nigerian act Danagog. This could not be confirmed as Kamal could not be reached via telephone.

Gossip & Gists: Davido Bought Off His New Single For N500k?

The internet is currently buzzing over Davido‘s new single ‘Gobe‘ which he officially released on February, 25, 2013 but that’s not all that causing him to trend on social network Twitter.

Davido_Password

Hours after the release, another version quite similar to the pop star’s surfaced online so E! 365 began snooping around and asking questions – apparently the same song also titled ‘Gobe‘ was released a year ago by an upcoming singer-producer named Password.

Password (who gained little buzz after featuring on Darey’s ‘Style na style’ remix) had made online release for the same song in July 2011 but it seemed not to have garnered any buzz back then. Sources tell us Password who produced and wrote the first version of ‘Gobe’ allegedly sold the song to Davido for a sum of money possibly up to N500,000.

Dude sold the song to Davido. He produced and wrote it, all of a sudden they are saying Shizzi produced it‘, a studio rat and close friend to Password told E! 365 in anonymity.

We could not immediately confirm this story.

It isn’t a big deal or something new though; song writers sell music pieces all the time. Most times, producers, music composers and songwriters record original compositions and trade their songs to bigger artistes.

Examples are in the hundreds – US acts Ne-Yo, The Dream, Frank Ocean, Stacy Barthe, Keri Hilson are all credited to have written some of the biggest songs of the past decade. And on the home front we have former Cobhams Asuquo protege Omolara (who wrote Chidinma‘s ‘Kedike‘ and Praiz‘ ‘Rich and famous) OJB Jezreel (who wrote 2face’s 2004 hit ‘Right Here’) to mention a few.

What however makes ‘Gobe’ peculiar is that it had been previously released as an official single.

Both parties have not been responsive to queries over the matter but after numerous comments were made on music blogs and social networks Twitter and Facebook about the stunning similarities between the songs, Davido and Password are now very vocal on Twitter about the matter.

They noticed people had found out, it’s like Password didn’t tell Davido that he had released the song before he sold it‘.

Davido was smart enough play along. This afternoon, he tweeted; Big ups 2 @iamshizzi and @iam_password for such a great combination of work for GOBE! More stuff 2 come HKN!

Password was also very co-operative as he also tweeted in support; The song Gobe was officially replaced by @iam_davido hu co-wrote on d new version and I @iam-password is very happy and satisfied.

HKN in-house producer also tweeted; Follow my gud friend @iam_password and thanx to him and d inspiration we all put into gobe! Cc”@iam_Davido.

Gossip & Gists: "You Must Get A Degree" – Davido’s Father Insists

They say the biggest legacy a parent can leave for his-her children is education. Every parent no matter the circumstances strives hard to live up to that statement and so is Nigerian billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke who seems hell bent on seeing one of his sons David ‘Davido’ Adeleke attending and graduating from University like every other child.

Davido..

The last two years have been a handful for Davido – he didn’t just make a very successful debut in the Nigerian music scene but accelerated to the A-list spot, something that has taken other A-listers years to achieve. He’s released a debut album with chart topping singles, won international awards and performed in and out of the country, what else could he ask for?

Well, Davido isn’t doing the asking, his father is; more like demanding. NET sources say Mr Adeleke wants his son to enrol in a University and graduate with a degree. And to make that happen, he has reportedly built an entire department at Babcock University (where he is currently a provost) for Creative Arts which will have Davido and his manager Kamal as the only students for now.

We’re told he has also bought a dedicated car which take the boys to and from school as they work to combine academic commitments with show business.
Davido and Kamal (who had to go back to school because of Davido’s father’s insistence) are using the opportunity to bond, a source tells us.

It is also likely his celebrity cousins Bayo ‘B.Red’ and Sina ‘Sinarambo’ Adeleke will be joining them soon.

‘Davido’s dad believes a lot in his music and HKN. He thinks David can take it to the next level but he also feels education is compulsory foundation for his son’, a source to the family tells us.

We learn he has been helping to put up necessary structures that’ll ensure the boys don’t mess things up. For starters, Mr Adeleke insists on meeting with everyone working with his son.

And the young pop star has so far been co-operative. Davido’s mother Vera, an educationist herself was until her death in 2003, a lecturer at Babcock University.
